Graduate Medical Education (GME)

Welcome to Graduate Medical Education at East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine and Vidant Medical Center. At ECU/Vidant we are committed to providing our resident physicians and fellows with the best education in order to prepare you to meet your professional goals.

With 909 inpatient beds, Vidant Medical Center is the largest teaching hospital in eastern North Carolina. On an average day VMC admits more than one hundred patients and provides care for more than 300 patients in our emergency departments. VMC is part of Vidant Health, an 8-hospital system dedicated to serving the people of eastern North Carolina.

Our teaching faculty comes primarily from ECU's Brody School of Medicine, which is the only medical school in eastern North Carolina. Our trainees are exposed to private practice through rotations in our community and rural areas. Our 40 physician training programs offer comprehensive training in primary and specialty care.

If you are new to our site, welcome. If you are an ECU/Vidant resident physician or fellow, thank you for being an integral part of our healthcare team.
