About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center (VMC), a 909-bed facility, is the tertiary referral center for eastern North Carolina. The hospital is the primary teaching site for the Brody School of Medicine and the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing at East Carolina University.

Vidant Medical Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Vidant Medical Center includes private practice physicians and other health affiliates throughout a 29-county region. The system owns, manages and leases hospitals, home health agencies, a surgery center, and physician practices that serve 1.4 million people. Its combined operations comprise over 1,100 licensed beds and include more than 7,000 employees. Vidant Medical Center is affiliated with the Brody School of Medicine.

Jointly with the Brody School of Medicine, Vidant Medical Center offers accredited residency and fellowship programs in 32 specialties. The hallmark of these programs is the emphasis on close, collegial relationships between faculty and residents in a challenging and diverse clinical environment.
