Welcome to the TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center web site. Our name stands for Tender Evaluation, Diagnosis and Intervention for a BEtter Abuse Response. The center is part of the Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University located in Greenville, NC.
An accredited member of the National Children's Alliance and a member of the Children's Advocacy Centers of North Carolina, we are one of more than 600 children's advocacy centers across the country who serve alleged victims of child abuse.
Stewards of Children is one of the nation's leading training courses in how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse. TEDI BEAR offers it free of charge for organizations throughout eastern North Carolina, including schools, churches, law enforcement agencies, healthcare and mental health providers, social service agencies, and community organizations.
The training requires 2 to 2-1/2 hours, and can be provided in either one or two sessions. It can be offered on any day or evening of the week, and is approved for a variety of types of professional continuing education credit. But most important, it offers parents, professionals, and other concerned adults with practical, evidence-based approaches to keeping kids safe.

TEDI BEAR will soon begin to publicly recognize organizations that care about keeping kids safe from sexual abuse! These include day care centers, social service agencies, healthcare providers, and other organizations that want the community to know they are SAFE Supporters -- that is, people who want to help "Stop Abuse for Everyone."
How does an organization get recognized as a SAFE Supporter? It's not as hard as you may think! Call Kelly Baxter or Kevin Krisher at 252-744-8334 to learn more.
