May 26 - July 24, 2015
The Summer Biomedical Research Program (SBRP) provides undergraduates from ECU and other Universities with experience in basic science research. The Vice Chairs of Diversity Initiatives (VCDI) will provide program participants with career development activities including a mock graduate/ medical school interview, one-on-one career counseling, and students will present a poster at the conclusion of the program.
BSOM or Vidant research faculty interested in training a student in their laboratory should submit a 1-2 paragraph summary of the proposed research project to Rukiyah Van Dross, Ph.D., (email@example.com) by February 28, 2015. A small stipend of $750 will be made available to the faculty mentor to offset the cost of reagents and supplies.
The SBRP is designed to provide undergraduates, including those belonging to underrepresented groups, with exposure to biomedical research at the BSOM. The SRBP may also serve as a tool to recruit the top program participants to Brody graduate and medical programs.
Students will commit 37 hours per week to laboratory research. Program participants will receive a living expense stipend and housing on the main campus of ECU. All undergraduates are eligible for this program particularly those currently in their sophomore or junior year.
