Area Overview

Welcome! English education majors pursue a double major: a BS in English, Secondary Education and a BS in English. In partnership with local public schools, our program provides comprehensive English education under the supervision of highly qualified clinical teachers. The ENED program prepares teacher candidates to be knowledgeable and reflective practitioners who are skilled in using technology to meet the needs of diverse students.

The program emphasizes involvement with public schools and assistance in the development and creation of educational policy for North Carolina, as well as support for our teacher candidates' scholarship and research/creative activity. We invite you to review this site to learn more about our course offerings and related services.

The program also supports two graduate degrees: the Master of Arts in Teaching in English Education and the Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in English Education.
