Welcome to the Department of Kinesiology. We contribute to the East Carolina University Foundations Curriculum by offering EXSS 1000/1001/1025. Our students, faculty and staff promote well-being through academic leadership in human movement and sport.

The mission of the Department of Kinesiology is to enhance health and wellness through understanding physical activity. This is accomplished through instruction, research, and service related to the behavioral, biomechanical, pedagogical, physiological, managerial, and socio-cultural aspects of physical activity as they impact on learning movement patterns, disease prevention, and participation in physical activity, exercise and sport. The department prepares knowledgeable leaders at both the undergraduate and graduate levels who can guide individuals, groups, or organizations for the purpose of increasing lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

The main department office is located in Minges Coliseum Room 171.
