The Central Project Office (CPO) serves the ECU community by acting as the IT project management office (PMO). The project office is committed to providing/maintaining a project methodology that project managers/leads follow, which inherently allows projects to be managed effectively and to be delivered on time, on scope and on budget.
The mission of the project office is to provide and implement enterprise-proven project management principles and methodology that shall promote successful execution of projects; managing schedules, budget, and scope for our stakeholders, while fulfilling university strategic objectives.
The CPO facilitates project management skill development and process adherence to project management principles across the organization. The CPO also offers project management specific coaching/mentoring and/or training to aid in bolstering one's knowledge, experience and skill in project management.
Projects are all part of a bigger project portfolio that is regularly managed by the CPO. Portfolio Management includes the scoring of new project proposals, the scheduling of approved projects based on available resources and budget, as well as managing the change in the projects in terms of the effects on other projects in the portfolio and organization.
Tools and StandardsThe CPO implements standards and tools in order to minimize risk facing projects at ECU. Project managers/leads with projects in the portfolio are expected to follow these standards.
Project Tracking and ReportingWorking closely with project managers/leads, the CPO tracks and reports on the status and progress of projects in the portfolio using our Project Portfolio Management tool, TeamDynamix. Reports and dashboards are issued through TeamDynamix, as well as a bi-monthly newsletter; Central Project Office News.
