Transit – Shuttles will begin running at 3:00 pm and will pick up at Mendenhall and College Hill.
Walking - Students may walk to Minges Coliseum from campus crossing over 14th Street at the top of College Hill (behind Gateways East and West). Begin walking early to ensure prompt arrival.
Cars – Parking will be available with official ECU Parking Pass.
Entrance to Minges:
Students will enter Minges through Gate 2. Members of the Greek Community will welcome you as you walk towards Gate 2.
Students will receive an ECU Entering Class 2015 Pin once they enter Minges Coliseum. The Entering Year Pin symbolizes the start of your academic journey and commitment to being an East Carolinian.
Students will sit on the lower floor of Minges and in the upper level, sections 201-207 and 215-216.
Faculty and staff seating is in upper level, sections 214-215.
Pre-convocation entertainment will include interactive games and musical competitions with students, faculty and staff at 3:45 p.m.
A pep rally led by the ECU Athletic Department, Pep Band, Cheerleaders and Dance Team will immediately follow Convocation at 4:30 in Minges Coliseum.
Exit from Minges to Palooza:
Students sitting on lower level will exit through Gate 2.
Students sitting in upper level will exit through Smith Williams Center.
All first time students are invited to fall convocation in Minges Coliseum where you are officially welcomed to East Carolina University. The purpose of this event is to foster community building traditions, student involvement and campus commitment. As part of the official welcome, students will begin to build a group identity or community among members of the entering class; understand the institution’s mission and expectations; and hear presentations from the Chancellor and a keynote speaker. The new student welcome and convocation is capped off with a spirited pep rally led by the Athletic Director, ECU’s coaches, Marching Band, Cheerleaders and Dance team.
