Graduate Certificate in Security Studies
A Graduate Option for Working Professionals and Full-Time Students
Whether you are a part-time graduate student already in the workforce or a full-time graduate student working toward a Master degree in the fields of Public Administration, International Studies, or Criminal Justice, the Graduate Certificate in Security Studies may be just right for you.
The Certificate is a 15-hour non-degree program, which does not require you to already be admitted into a Masters degree program or to have taken the Graduate Record Exams (GRE). It is self-paced, allowing students to take as few as one course a semester, depending on their workload at the office or other commitments. All courses required for the Certificate can also be taken through Distance Education utilizing a software program called Blackboard.
Students currently enrolled in the Masters in Public Administration (MPA), Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS) , Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) can also pursue their security studies interests through various formal arrangements with these programs. Special consideration can also be made for students in the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Science in Environmental Health (MSEH). Please check with your Masters program or contact security studies to determine what options are available to you.
