Purpose of Elections

The purpose of the SGA Elections is to ensure a fair, organized way for students to elect their SGA Executives and Student Assembly to represent their voice and to promote the importance of student voice and voter turnout in choosing the SGA elected officers.

Filing for SGA for the 2019-2020 school year will open at 8:00am on Wednesday, January 23 and will close at 5:00pm on Friday, February 1. There will be a link on this page to the Orgsync form when it opens.

Any students interested in running for office can attend an orientation meeting to find out more information. At these meetings, elections rules will be discussed and you can ask any questions about the process. Orientation meetings will be held:
Tuesday, January 15, 4:00pm, Main Campus Student Center Room 125
Thursday, January 17, 6:00pm, Health Sciences Student Center Grand Room 202
Tuesday, January 22, 7:00pm, Main Campus Student Center Room 253

All candidates, or a representative of each candidate, must attend a compulsory meeting.
At these meetings, all rules will be discussed in full. You only need to attend one compulsory meeting. They will be held:
Monday, February 4, 5:30pm, Health Sciences Student Center Grand Room 202
Monday, February 4, 7:00pm, Main Campus Student Center Room 125
Tuesday, February 5, 4:00pm, Main Campus Student Center Room 125

Campaigning begins at 8:00am on Wednesday, February 6. Any campaigning before that time will be considered a violation of election rules.

Voting takes place on PiratePort. Voting opens Wednesday, February 20 at 8:00am and closes at 5:00pm on Friday, February 22.

Honors College Representative (2)
Graduate School Representative (2)
School of Dental Medicine Representative (2)
At-Large Representative (32 - can come from any major or classification)
