Woodard, J.

Woodard is Back on Broadway

Actor Jeremy Woodard began rehearsals this past September on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s (The Phantom of the Opera & Jesus Christ Superstar) new musical School of Rock opening at the historical Winter Garden Theatre. The musical, which opened October, is based on the 2003 Jack Black film The School of Rock. Jeremy was last seen on Broadway in Sting’s The Last Ship.

Congratulations also go out to Jeremy for being honored by East Carolina University with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Jeremy also took a quick break from Broadway to attend the festivities.


Marisha Wallace on Broadway

Last April, Marisha Wallace (BFA - Musical Theatre & Theatre Education) began the run of her second Broadway production in less than a year. Marisha was cast cast in the new Broadway musical, Something Rotten!. She was recently featured in the ensemble of Disney's, Aladdin and a part of the Original Broadway Cast Recording.

Kevin Williamson Continues to Shine

SoTD alum Kevin Williamson continues to shine. You may know Kevin as the writer of the Scream movie series, Dawson's Creek and the creator of the CW series, The Vampire Diaries, but you must to check out his latest venture, the Fox hit, The Following. The production stars Kevin Bacon as a FBI agent in the middle of a web of serial killers lead by James Purefoy, Marc Antony in the HBO series, Rome. The Following is a suspenseful thriller that will keep you riveted to the screen.


Cassell and Summers cast in Slow Burns', "Hunchback"

Fellow SoTD alums Bobby Cassell and Landon Summers have been cast in Slow Burn Theatre's production of Disney's, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Bobby will be playing the role of Quasimodo and Landon will be playing Pheobus, the soldier/heartthrob.


Slow Burn is one of 11 theatres chosen by the Walt Disney Company to produce Hunchback after it closed at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse last year. This speific production will be the 2nd of the 11.  It goes up on October 20 and closes on November 6. For more info go to

Students Featured in RCAW

Congratulations to Josh Brown and Becca Johnson who’s independent study project from last semester “Max/MSTree” was included on, 4/5/16, in the graduate level RCAW poster session. A more portable version was on display over in the Mendenhall student center in the social room downstairs. SoTD students are showing well even in a sea of grad student research! (And a big congrats to the other SoTD students that participated in RCAW!)


Dancers Delight ACDA in Morgantown

Congratulations and thanks to all the Dance contingent representing ECU/SOTD so marvelously at the ACDA conference, and special kudos to Kanon Sapp and her group for their selection to the final Gala, and as an alternate for the national event. (story continued)
